About Servusamanu

About Servusamanu-

Exploring the world writing and publishing one post a time. I look for anything that’ll help a writer (or at least me!) write better, get published, and make a career as an author. Also I like cooking, the French language, medieval history, the Seattle Seahawks, travel, technology, politics, and a dash of everything else.

History of this Page-

On a dark and stormy night Servusamanu arose drenched in the blood of his unfortunate creators. He lifted a malformed paw and yelled to the stars, “Rosebud!”

This was, of course, after years of revision and change. Born in 2005 as a sandbox for web-design, Drakas.com, as this site was then called, was a short-lived adventure in <tables> and PHP programming. Over the next year, Drakas.com went through five major revisions, each slightly more obnoxious than the next, but each requiring slightly more placeholder content. It was with the ill-fated Drakas.com Version 3 that my first short story, written years prior and named “Good Luck,” was placed online. Such began my rocky relationship with writing and web-design.

Drakas.com survived two more revisions with few writing additions. Fast-Forward to 2006. A Christmas featuring a loss of internet access, the dissolution of the Drakas.com domain name, and a hosting company bankruptcy forced a new revision and a new moniker. Vikrandell.com, named for one of my favorite Nom de plumes was assembled in a harried rush. A misshapen and ill-begotten fellow, VikRandell.com barely lasted three months before again being revised. The current Vikrandell.com exists today in a state of abeyance, waiting to be reintegrated into Servusamanu.

The original Servusamanu, which can be found here, was a project I conceived in early 2007 to combine writing and web-design. After years of doing writing on the side and occasionally dumping it on my website I decided to merge my passions into a single site. I dropped support for Vikrandell.com and spent over a year writing micro-articles for Servusamanu on the various news articles and topics that interested me. It was an admirable start into the world of blogging, but it was terribly impersonal and I never felt comfortable with the format.

And so now, the new and improved, Servusamanu V2. No longer is it a repository just for old unedited writing or a place to link news articles. The new Servusamanu is meant to be a journey about writing, technology, and culture for me and whomever may decide to read it. Enjoy!
