Happy Halloween!
I can’t think of any better way to spend than evening than reading that master of horror: H.P. Lovecraft
His works are mostly public domain now, so enjoy! I suggest The Music of Erich Zahn, in particular.

Respectful Insolence is a running compendium of science and history (and more!) written by one of my favorite online writers, Orak. Orak is the nom de plume of the resident insolence hurler, a research oncologist who writes on sketchy medicine, holocaust denial, Dr. Who, and a host of science topics all with a careful spattering of snarky wit and reasoned skepticism. I’ve slowly increased my blogroll to encompass as many topics as possible (for ideas as well as knowledge), but I also owe Respectful Insolence a more personal shout-out since it was one of my early inspirations to become a ‘blog writer,’ if I indeed have any claim to that title. It’s well worth reading.
For an example of a relatively recent, science-oriented article that I particular enjoyed: Drug Testing!
Hemingway, H.P Lovecraft, Henry Miller, George RR Martin. Which one of them has his own website?
George RR Martin is the author of, among other things, the Song of Ice and Fire, the best fantasy series written since Tolkien. He keeps his page fairly up to date with his new projects, but even better is his ‘Not A Blog’. It is not a forum for writing or publishing, although he does link to contests on occasion It does however give a humanizing look at the life of one (especially talented) fantasy writer. It may not be the most explosive blog a writer has ever started, but anything and everything by GRRM is gold, so why complain?
He’s also the author I intend to quote if anyone gets on my case for occasion bits of sports commentary. (Seahawks 4 Life!)
Having posted twice previously announcing the new revision to Servusamanu, I would like to, finally, announce with as much as fanfare and bombast as possible, the new design for Servusamanu.
For the (few) readers of the old site, the old archives can still be found on the main navigation bar. The old site remains existent, but I don’t intend to do any more updates there.
Instead, with luck, this new revision will bring more and better articles. The old site was a hodgepodge of articles gleaned from the news and whatever else caught my eye. It was interesting for me and hopefully a little bit for my readers as well, but I feel it suffered greatly from a lack of focus.
My tastes and interests still run the gambit from computer games to medieval epics, but with this new revision my hope is to concentrate on the one hobby that inspired me to start Servusamanu in the first place: writing.
I remain a very much unpublished writer. I would like to change that someday. In the mean time I’m practicing my writing, finding tools to help me improve, and keeping track of everything that’ll help me get published. If I can help anyone else out and maybe entertain a few people with my writing notes, I’ll consider this site a success.

Postscript: Currently I want to update 4 times a week. I don’t intend to have a set schedule for now though.
Post Postscript: For the technically minded out there, the new Servusamanu uses Wordpress and a heavily tweaked version of the Defusion theme. I use the srg-clean-archives, Postlist, and Google analytics modules.
Servusamanu is finally redesigned! It’ll be another week of back-end testing before posts start so, in the mean time, the old site can still be found at this link.
